Hawk Performance HPS 5.0 Disc Brake Pads

Descripción

For years, engine builders have been pushing motors to the limits of their ability, and Hawk Performance continues to get one step closer to the ABS Rev Limiter. The goal of these High Performance Street 5.0 brake pads is to offer the greatest stopping power and pedal feel for your vehicle without compromising your ABS. Too much brake torque, and your ABS goes into ICE mode; too little, and there is no improvement to the product. Pedal feedback, noise, brake torque, and dust control are the goals of these pads. They feature a Ferro-carbon compound that provides advanced braking characteristics to enhance the driving experience. This new compound combines the safety and quality of aerospace design, partnered with the braking technology of motorsports. The results are shorter stopping distances, improved performance under heavy braking conditions, and street car friendly characteristics. Order the set designed for fitment on your make and model.

I've had HPS 5.0 pads front and rear for ~45k miles over 5 years. Stopping performance is great (better than stock) even in freezing weather. I get a bit less brake dust but there definitely is dust buildup on wheels. No squeals or squeaks from from the brakes and no brake fade.

Super easy to install. Unbolt wheel after you jack up the car, remove wheel and use 18mm socket to remove two caliper mount bolts. Or was it 19mm? I forget now. Slide caliper off, pop out stock pads with fingers, pop in new ones--make sure you compare the backs of the old pads to the new ones to know which pads go where--the pads that go behind the rotor are diff than the ones on the "outside" of the car side of the caliper, and side specific. Kit did not come with brake grease, but you can get two little pocket packets, one for each set of pads, from the local auto parts place. Spread the grease on the BACK ONLY of the pads where it contacts the caliber/piston, and then on the threads of the caliper mounting bolts before you put them back in. That's all there is to it. I paired these with a set of vented and drilled rotors from American Muscle to eliminate the common and irritating rear brake squeal, for which Ford says there is no factory fix, as replacement parts would be the same noisy parts. I have the Performance Package. Contrary to what some may believe, it's typically the rear that squeal, NOT the Brembos!!! Which one service writer tried to tell me a few times. Dunce. I now have no squeals. Except of delight! If your stock brake pads are worn down like mine were NOT, you'll need to open the brake fluid reservoir cap under the hood, and use a vice grip to press the piston in on the caliper, OR since brake pads are semi-wedged shape, you might be able to slide the caliper with new pads onto the rotor at an angle and squeeze the pads back that way.
